Calli Obern is a Senior Policy Advisor at the Center on Global Energy Policy, Columbia University SIPA. She comes from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of International Affairs, bringing expertise in trade policy, industrial decarbonization, and critical minerals. Calli also led bilateral engagement with China on deploying carbon management technologies in DOE’s Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management.
Calli was a Brent Scowcroft Award Fellow with the Aspen Strategy Group and led subnational dialogues with India and China on climate and energy with the Aspen Institute’s Energy and Environment Program. She directed policy and stakeholder engagement at Capture6, a carbon removal startup.
Calli received her MA in international policy at Stanford University, specializing in climate and energy, and her BA in diplomacy and world affairs and Chinese from Occidental College. In her free time, Calli enjoys running, singing karaoke, practicing foreign languages, and playing Euchre, the best Midwestern card game.
