Writing in Foreign Policy, Director Jason Bordoff argues that today’s 70th anniversary of the Marshall Plan serves as a reminder of the importance of a strong transatlantic alliance at a time when the relationship between the U.S. and Europe has been strained by the Trump Administration’s withdrawal from the Paris climate agreement, refusal to endorse NATO’s guarantee of mutual defense, and rejection of international trade agreements. Energy, in particular, is a key area for U.S.-European cooperation and a notable example of how the United States is better off when it is integrated into a global community rather than isolated.
