IEA’s Gas 2018 Medium Term Market Report and Global Gas Security Review 2018

Past Event

6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

The Center on Global Energy Policy hosted a presentation and discussion of the IEA’s Gas 2018 Medium Term Market Report and Global Gas Security Review 2018 with Jean-Baptiste Dubreuil, Senior Natural Gas Analyst at the International Energy Agency.

Gas 2018 Medium Term Market Report
Three major shifts will shape the evolution of global natural gas markets in the next five years – growing imports from China, greater industrial demand, and rising production from the United States. The structural shift will determine the evolution of the market at a time when growth in emerging markets is sustained by strong economic expansion and strong policy support to curb air pollution. Gas 2018, the latest IEA annual market report, assesses these trends and provides a detailed analysis of supply and trade developments, infrastructure investments, and demand growth forecast through 2023.

Global Gas Security Review 2018
Natural gas markets are changing at a rapid pace, moving from regional integration to a more globalized and interdependent market. This transformation is creating new security-related concerns, which remain alive despite the prospects of growing supply. Global Gas Security Review offers an extensive assessment of recent gas balancing issues and related policy developments linked to security of supply, as well as lessons learned from recent events.
