Last year China emitted more heat-trapping gases than the US and Europe combined. There is no solution to climate change without China. In 2018, China led the world in deployment of solar power, wind power, hydropower, nuclear power and electric vehicles. Yet in 2018, China also led the world in coal consumption and financing of coal-fired power plants around the world. Please join the Center on Global Energy Policy for the release of Guide to Chinese Climate Policy 2019 by David Sandalow. Following remarks by David Sandalow, CGEP Inaugural Fellow and Co-Director, Energy and Environment Concentration, School of International and Public Affairs, Peggy Liu, Chair, Joint US-China Collaboration on Clean Energy (JUCCCE); Deborah Seligsohn, Assistant Professor of Political Science at Villanova University; and Weiping Wu, Professor and Director of the Urban Planning Program, Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, Columbia University, will join a moderated panel for a lively discussion of China’s climate and energy policies. — Guests unable to attend in person can register to view a livestream of the event.
