Scholars and faculty from the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia SIPA (CGEP) and Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) joined students for a series of engaging seminars to discuss the world’s most pressing issues and solutions related to energy and the environment. The goal of this seminar series was to thoroughly engage with the forces of technology, policy, and everything in between as they relate to the challenge of mitigating the effects of climate change.

Our second seminar addressed the importance of energy storage in a clean energy market and featured Richard Kauffman, CGEP Adjunct Senior Research Scholar, Chairman of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), Chair of Generate Capital, and Former Energy Czar for the State of New York, and Professor Dan Steingart, Stanley-Thompson Associate Professor of Chemical Metallurgy, Department of Earth and Environmental Engineering and Department of Chemical Engineering, Co-Director of the Columbia Electrochemical Energy Center. Silas Swanson (SEAS ‘21) moderated the conversation.
