2026 David Leuschen Global Energy Fellows Application

 

Overview

The David Leuschen Global Energy Fellows Program is a year-long program designed to:

  • Challenge students to think critically on relevant energy-related issues
  • Facilitate engagement between Columbia students and experts at CGEP
  • Provide Columbia’s brightest energy-focused graduate students with opportunities to build a career in energy.

Eligibility

The program will accept 15 students this year. Students will be notified of their acceptance in October. To be eligible, students must be enrolled as a full-time graduate student (including PhD) at Columbia University for the duration of the program, with a graduation date of May 2026 or later.

Essay Questions

The work of the Center on Global Energy Policy lies at the intersection of energy, geopolitics, the energy transition, economic development, and energy markets. Reflect on how your academic, professional, or personal experiences have prepared you to contribute to or benefit from the Center’s interdisciplinary focus. Please answer the following questions to the best of your ability. You may prefer to draft your responses in a separate document and copy/paste into the form. Please keep in mind that applicants will be assessed for: a track record of academic and professional achievement; writing and communication skills; and a demonstrated interest in global energy systems. Topics of Interest
CGEP Scholars and Fellows engage in a broad array of energy-related topics. As a Global Energy Fellow, you will receive mentorship and have the opportunity to support CGEP Scholars on relevant research and initiatives. Select up to three topics that interest you the most.
