Fueling Up: The Economic Implications of America’s Oil and Gas Boom

Past Event

February 26, 2014

1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Please join the Center on Global Energy Policy for a presentation and discussion with Trevor Houser, Partner, Rhodium Group; Visiting Fellow, Peterson Institute for International Economics; and co-author, Fueling Up. In Fueling Up, Houser and co-author Shashank Mohan assess the impact of the recent and projected increase in domestic energy production on US GDP, employment growth, manufacturing competitiveness, household expenditures, and international trade balance.

Alongside its economic impact, the American energy revolution is raising new environmental and trade policy questions. For example: What are the consequences for the environment and global warming of increased domestic oil and gas production? And should companies be allowed to export the energy they produce or will doing so undermine American manufacturing competitiveness? Following Houser’s presentation of new research and analysis that can help policymakers navigate these issues, Center Director Jason Bordoff will moderate a discussion.

Registration is required. This event is open to press. It will also be livestreamed at: http://energypolicy.columbia.edu/watch.
