Founder and Managing Partner, OLEX.
Brett A. Olsher is founder and managing partner of OLEX., a global consulting and impact investment firm focusing on the natural resources and industrial sectors. Mr. Olsher is also Chairman and CIO of GVP Climate, an investment firm that backs early stage sustainable innovation for the energy transition.Until January 2019, Mr. Olsher was chairman of Goldman Sachs’s Global Natural Resources Group in the investment banking division. He was also co-chairman of the Russia Executive Leadership Group, and a member of the Firmwide Commitments Committee, the Investment Banking Division Operating Committee, and the Investment Banking Services Leadership Group. Mr. Olsher joined Goldman Sachs in 2009 as a partner and co-head of the Global Natural Resources Group.
At Deutsche Bank, he was global head of emerging markets, co-head of global mergers and acquisitions, global head of natural resources, and an executive committee member for the corporate and investment bank. Mr. Olsher also worked at J.P. Morgan in London as a top-ranked equity research analyst.
Prior to his career in investment banking, Mr. Olsher served as president of Olsher Metals Corporation. Previously, he was a member of the professional staff at Price Waterhouse, where he qualified as a CPA.
Mr. Olsher earned a masters in international economics and politics from Columbia University’s Graduate School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) and a bachelors in business administration from the University of Massachusetts. He is a member of the dean’s advisory board at SIPA and of the executive committee for Columbia’s Center for Global Energy Policy.
Mr. Olsher is a senior advisor to Trafigura and Brimstone Energy and is a member of the board of directors of CRU International.
