Biography

Áine Greene is a Research Associate and Program Manager for the Energy Systems Modelling and Data Analytics Platform (ESMA) at the Center on Global Energy Policy. In this role, her work focuses on managing strategically important research projects related to decarbonization, the power sector, energy innovation, and other related topics. Her responsibilities include directly supporting Director of Research and Senior Research Scholar, Dr. Melissa Lott and Senior Research Scholar, Dr. James Glynn in their areas of expertise.

Prior to joining Columbia University, Áine was as a Senior Project Manager for Atlantic Projects Company, working in the power generation industry across Ireland, the UK and Europe. She was primarily involved in managing Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects of new build power plants and delivery of major refurbishment projects of ageing thermal power plants. Prior to this private industry experience, she worked for the Electricity Supply Board (ESB), the largest Utility
state-owned company in Ireland. During this time, she held a variety of roles in power generation across Plant Engineering, Maintenance, Operations and Production. She joins the Center with eighteen years’ experience in the electricity industry and energy sector.

Áine has further association with the Centre for Project Management (CPM) in the University of Limerick, Ireland. She was selected as an industry leading Project Manager to work in a Moderator Role at the CPM, supervising master’s students on a part-time basis. Áine holds a Master’s Degree in Project and Programme Management from the University of Limerick, Ireland. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National University of Ireland Galway and has achieved Chartered Engineer (CEng) accreditation. Áine is keen to further her studies and in addition to her program management responsibilities avail of opportunities to explore ‘Net-Zero’ research topics she is passionate about.
